Our Environmental Sustainability Policy
At City Road Vets, we care deeply about the environment as well as the animals we treat. We understand that our day-to-day activities can affect the planet, and we’re committed to doing our part to reduce our impact while continuing to provide the highest level of care for your pets.
Our Key Environmental Impacts
We’ve identified several ways our work can affect the environment, including:
- Use of fossil fuels and electricity
- Water consumption
- Waste and disposal (e.g. plastics, medical waste)
- Use of anaesthetic gases
- Emissions from staff and client travel
- Use of raw materials (e.g. medicines, plastics, needles)
- Use of antiparasitic and antimicrobial medications
Our Commitment:
- We are on a journey of continuous improvement to become more sustainable. Here’s what we’re doing:
1. Reducing Waste & Saving Resources
- We monitor and aim to reduce electricity and water use
- We’ve replaced disposable items with reusable ones (e.g. surgical gowns and drapes)
- We’re going paperless wherever possible
- We make environmentally conscious choices when buying equipment and supplies
- We manage waste using the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- We’ve upgraded to more environmentally friendly anaesthetic machines that use less gas and oxygen
2. Using Medicines Responsibly
- We minimise medicine waste through careful stock control
- We encourage clients to return unused medications for safe disposal
3. Involving Our Team
- Our dedicated ‘Eco Warrior’ team leads our sustainability efforts
- All staff are encouraged to share ideas and take part in eco-friendly initiatives
Our Promise
- We’re committed to protecting the planet for future generations—human and animal alike.
